Louisiana Fortify Homes Program Lottery Opens June 1

Homeowners interested in strengthening their homes against hurricanes will soon have another opportunity to apply for assistance through the Louisiana Fortify Homes Program (LFHP). Registration for the next grant lottery opens at 8:00 a.m. on June 1 and remains open through 5:00 p.m. on June 19.

The program provides grants of up to $10,000 to help homeowners upgrade their roofs to FORTIFIED standards, which are designed to better withstand hurricane-force winds. This round of funding will make approximately 3,000 grants available to eligible homeowners.

Residents must register during the application period to be included in the lottery. Homeowners who applied in previous rounds but were not selected must register again. There is no advantage to registering on the first day; all eligible applicants have an equal chance of being selected once registration closes.

For eligibility requirements, required documents, and application information, visit the Louisiana Fortify Homes Program website. Homeowners selected through the lottery will begin receiving notifications starting June 22.

This is a great opportunity for Louisiana homeowners to improve their home's storm resilience while potentially reducing future insurance costs.
